I recently took a blogging hiatus because I felt a bit overwhelmed with a new job and preparing for grad school in the fall. As I began to get settled in the job, one week of not positing turned into three, then months. Although I was still doing my nails, I was too into my routine to take the time to blog about it. I recently remembered that my passion for nail art was deeper than just blogging; the entire process (selecting a color that matched my mood, doing my nails, writing about it, and then sharing it) was my way of taking time to stop and focus on me. Last night I decided to stop depriving myself of personal time and happiness, and did my nails first thing this morning.

I’m pretty darn proud of my work! The base polish I used was 2 coats of Sally Hansen’s Hard As Nails: Celeb City and the top color I used Sinful Colours’ Rise and Shine. Turquoise is my favorite color, so I decided to use it as a new beginning with the blog. For the designs, I used nail tape. As an fyi, when using nail tape, make sure you remove the tape before the polish dries to ensure perfect lines. I went a little design happy, but that’s what nail art is all about right? What polish tricks do you use?

Nail Happy!

Design Happy!

I hope you enjoy! Happy polishing!

Starting Over

4 Nov

Every once in a while I like to clip off the claws and start new. Since I haven’t had a professional mani in a while I decided why not start over today? I did a massive cleaning today, so it only made sense. I was going back and forth with this gold polish from L’Oreal or this pale pink polish from Sally Hansen. I’m not exactly sure why I chose the L’Oreal polish but I did. It’s called “Because you’re worth it”. And it was. Color looks great- 2 thin coats does the job. Dried fast. No topcoat used (I was doing a quick polish, but frankly, top coat isn’t needed in my opinion). I usually pass by the L’Oreal polish section because I never knew if they were worth the price, but since I’ve tried this polish, I might need to take a second look.

Look at What I Found!!

17 Jan

Look at what I found at Duane Reade yesterday! $11 Sally Hanson strips for $3?! I HAD to grab them. They were the last 2 boxes! If you’re in NY, head to your nearest Walgreens or Duane Reade and hope they’re not sold out!

Glitterdays Week 3

21 Dec

This week I wore Sinful Colors’ Frenzy. It’s a purple and blue glitter polish. I love the fact that it’s 2 colors – makes the mani more fun.

I used 3 coats because I didn’t like the way 2 looked.

I think I’m gonna go with the gold & green one for New Years. I might even add garnet to the mani so I could start my birthstone manis lol

Happy holidays!! ⛄🎅🎄🎁

New Beginnings

16 Dec

I found that I enjoy featuring different types of polishes – not only does it let me enjoy my nails more, but it also allows me to buy more polishes :-).

After only 2 weeks of my Glitterdays – which I LOVE- I’ve decided to feature one color each month- I might take it further and do birth stone colors. After I finish having fun with glitter, I’m going to start with Garnet/ red.

‘Tis The Season…. For Glitter

2 Dec

This week I’m all about the glitter. I like to wear glitter polishes with a matching base color. It instantly glams up the manicure. The teal base color I used is Sinful Colors – Rise and Shine. My new sparkly best friend is Wet & Wild’s Spoiled – Use Protection.

Both are $1.99ea.

I totally LOVE the way the glitter pops with the teal!

Sweetheart/Minnie Mouse #manicure

17 Oct

This is what I like to call my Sweetheart/Minnie Mouse mani because of the colors. This mani screams Minnie without the polka dots. It’s a little more calmed down than my other manis but I love it.

The Imperfect Half Moon

10 Oct

This week’s #manicure is the imperfect half moon #mani. At first I didn’t care for it, but after I cleaned it up as much as I could, I fell in love.

All of the posts on the half moon that I’ve seen used reinforcements. I used a design brush. I’m impatient when it comes to polish so I didn’t wait long for the polish to dry before I used the the brush. With the reinforcements I would have had to wait for the polish to dry completely before using the blue.

I used yellow and blue because I think the use of primary colors makes the manicure pop. I’m sure after doing it a few times in the future, it’ll look prettier. #beauty #nailpolish

Tried a new polish today – Illamasqua’s Opimist

23 Sep

Just redid my #manicure a few days earlier because of my brother’s birthday tomorrow.

ILLAMASQUA – Opimist “leather” varnish.

I LOVE this color, hate the way it looks without a top coat. 2 coats is a must! Not very “leathery” but the top coat (@sephora by OPI – Little miss impatient quick dry top coat) is everything!!!
